Walpole, MA - Walpole Express Assistant Captain Julie Nagel (Canton, MA) has committed to Division 3 NEHC Plymouth State University in New Hampshire for the fall of 2016. She becomes the Express’ women’s program sixth college commitment of the 2015-16 season.
Nagel, currently a senior at Canton High School, is a two-year veteran of the Express squad. A skilled forward, she led the team in goals this season thanks to her uncanny knack for finding the back of the net. “There were times this season when we really needed big goals and Julie delivered,” said Express Head Coach Danielle Doherty. “Julie is a very crafty player who can do some amazing things when the puck is on her stick. When she gets the puck in the slot, there is a very high chance that puck is going into the net.”
Not only will Julie be missed on the ice, she will be greatly missed off the ice. “When Julie walks into the room, the whole room lights up,” Doherty said. “She is always smiling and she brings such positive energy to the group. She is the type of person everyone wants to be friends with. She is one of the greatest kids I have worked with. I am really going to miss her.”
"I would like to thank my coaches from the past two years here at Walpole for helping me pursue my dream to play at the college level, something I’ve always wanted to achieve,” Nagle said. “I would also like to give a special thanks to my family for supporting me throughout my hockey career. I am really looking forward to spending my next four years at Plymouth State.”
Everyone within the Express organization congratulates Julie and wishes her the best of luck with her future endeavors.
