Walpole, MA – Walpole Express left-shot forward CJ Blaszka has committed to play for the Hawks of St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire next season. The Brookfield, Conn. native played two years with Express and was a member of the 2011-12 AJHL league championship-winning team. This past season CJ took on a bigger role, playing on the top lines and specialty teams, and as team captain leading the Express to a AJHL second-place finish. Blaszka's ability to lead by example was sorely missed when he was sidelined during the second half of the most recent season with a broken ankle. "When CJ went down with his injury not only did we lose a point-a-game player, we lost an inspirational leader," said Coach Mark Kumpel.
Blaszka is expected to make his mark quickly at St. Anselm, a school renown for the quality and character of the athletes it recruits and develops. According to Coach Ed Seney, Blaszka will be a strong addition to the culture of the Hawks and the academic community of St. Anselm." Added St. Anselm Assistant Coach Mike Curtis, "Cj's approach on and off the ice, his work ethic, character and attitude are exactly what St. A hockey stands for. We as a coaching staff at St. Anselm College are excited and expect CJ to make an immediate impact in our program both on the ice and in our locker room."
