Walpole, MA  - The Express hosted the New Jersey Rockets in a doubleheader this past Saturday, grabbing 6-0 and 5-0 victories.

After a scoreless first period in game one, period two would following with an explosion of scoring. Alyssa Murphy started it off for the Express early in the second period. Cassidy McNeeley made it 2-0 when she one-timed a pass from Sarah Zedian on the powerplay that sniped top corner. Elizabeth Furfari gave the Express a 3-0 lead when she came flying down the right side and roofed it top corner to end the second period.

McNeeley would get her second of the game on the penalty kill from Nicole Connor, followed by the completion of her hat-trick with a goal from Zedian once again, making it 5-0. Sam Molind grabbed the final tally to make it a 6-0 final. Lily O’Neil posted the shutout.

The teams were back at it a few hours later, and just like the first game, the teams were scoreless after the first. Cassi Ronan, who missed the first game, got the Express on the board at the start of the second. The goal would end up being the only one of the second period. Kellie Popkin added a power play goal from Hannah Murphy and Hayley Parrish early in the third period, followed by Kiki Doucette finding Hayley Parrish in the slot to make it 3-0.

“It was nice to see Hayley find the back of the net after being out for a month due to injury,” said coach Danielle Doherty. Elizabeth Furfari would make it it 4-0 on an individual effort before McNeeley ended the scoring with her 4th goal of the day, assisted by Kellie Popkinl. Lily O’Neil added yet another shutout in the 5-0 victory.

Coach Doherty couldn't be happier with her team, “What a great way to end the regular season. Two shutouts and 11 unanswered goals. I am really proud of the way my girls are playing. These four points moved us into second place which puts us in a great position for playoffs.”
