Walpole, MA - The Walpole Express EHL team is sitting in unfamiliar territory as team is off to its slowest start since the 2013 season. With a 6-5-2 record, the team has seen its fair share of highs and lows on the young season.
Most recently the Express have seen some improvements as they are 3-1 in their last four contests. This past weekend the Express were able to come away with a 5-1 win over the NY Applecore at Rodman Arena. Malachi Albrecht (New Dundee, ONT) continued his stellar play as he advanced to 5-0-2 on the season in net. The offense was led by the line of Evan Lichman (Hoboken, NJ), Will Wolford (Hansen, MA), and Zach Needham (Weymouth, MA) as they each had a twp point performance in the win.
On Saturday night the team travelled to the Ice Den in Hookset, NH to take on the top ranked NH Avalanche. A poor team performance and lack of discipline led to an easy 6-0 victory for the Avalanche. Despite the score, Albrecht was once again stellar in his performance.
"It's frustrating at times. I know how talented this group is and we just need the effort to be consistent each night," said Coach Lounsbury. "This is one of the youngest teams in the league and it shows in their play. I have no doubt we will be back near the top of the league in the end, it's just a big adjustment for our new players."
The Express will start a three game home stand this weekend with games against the New Jersey 87's and Wilkes-Barry/Scranton Knights.
