Walpole, MA - The Walpole Express EHL team is floating in unfamiliar territory as they sit at .500 early in the season. With nine players on the injured reserve, the EHL team has been unable to find consistency in their game finishing the week with a 1-2 record.
On Thursday the New England Wolves traveled to Rodman Arena for the teams' second contest of the year. The Express were able to hold on to a 3-2 victory at home behind the solid play of net minder Tyler Bost (Mahwah, NJ). In an evenly matched, fast physical game, the Express jumped out to an early lead and were able to hold on for a much needed two points in the standings. Goals game from Brendan Crimmins (Ramsey, NJ), Kevin Mainello (Albany, NY), and Hunter Phillips (Quincy, MA).
Over the weekend the Express limped in to the EHL's second league showcase at Paul T. Gilmartin Arena in Haverhill, MA. With injuries mounting, the Express competed but were unable to sustain much offense as they dropped games to the Philadelphia Revolution and Philly Jr Flyers.
"It's been a tough stretch for us. We have been playing good hockey but are just decimated with injuries," said Coach Lounsbury. "All we can do is stay positive, get healthy, and look for a big second half push. I have no doubt that there is enough talent in the room to allow us to have a great second half and make a big push for the conference."
The Express will head to Cape Cod on Wednesday, November 14th for a 12:30pm puck drop!
