'03 Premier (Guinan) team grabs u14 PHL Championship!

U14 ChampionsWalpole, MA  - Coach KJ Guinan's '03 Premier U14 team entered the NEPHL U14 Premier National League playoffs as the #1 seed after an impressive first place finish with a record of 11-2-2.

The team would have to win two playoff games on the road as they headed to Everett, MA for the semi-final game vs the Worcester Jr. Crusaders. The train never hit the brakes as a solid victory of 5-1 was the final.

The playoff focus was clearly on display as the Express players quietly packed up and got back on the train headed to the final road playoff game that would take place at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington MA vs the second seeded North Stars.

This final game would not disappoint any hockey fan with spectacular goaltending on both ends, featuring Express goalie Payton "The Savior" Foley who made crucial saves over and over and gave his team a chance to win all game. The resilient Express team was down 1-0 after the first period, but you could see and feel the determination that the second period would be ours.

Tenacious TEAM fore checking and back checking led to the tying goal by Ryan Seaver, assisted by Sean Guinan, leaving the second period tied 1-1.

The third period was a 50/50 battle all over the ice, with neither team yielding to the relentless efforts of all players on the ice. It would have to be decided in a 3 on 3 overtime matchup. The OT goal scored by Shea Donovan off a sweet cross ice pass from Billy Parr, capped of a winning team season with the Trophy and Championship Banner!
