Todd Stirling Named Director of Player Development
Walpole, MA - Rob Barletta, owner of the Walpole Express, has announced that 2015-16 EHL Premier Division Coach of the Year Todd Stirling has been named Director of Player Development for the Express organization, as well as Head Coach of the new U18 Full Season Midget team.
"Todd has coached at every level of hockey from mites to pros, and has spent twenty years working with and developing youth hockey players. He becomes our 9th full-time staff member, which shows our commitment to the players and families in the Express program," said Barletta.
Stirling, a Medfield, MA native, played prep school hockey at Salisbury School before heading to Hobart College. At Hobart, Stirling was a 4-year letter winner in both Hockey & Baseball, captaining both sports his senior year, and gaining All-American status in baseball.
Over the past 21 years, Stirling has built an impressive hockey resume. His hockey background includes coaching stints in youth hockey, college hockey, pro hockey and most recently junior hockey. In six seasons as a head coach in the junior hockey ranks, Stirling has successfully placed over 90 hockey players in NCAA Colleges and Tier I and Tier II USA Hockey junior programs. Todd also currently serves as a Northeast Regional Scout for the Ottawa Senators (NHL).
In his new role with the Express, Stirling will oversee players and coaches of all Express teams to guarantee that each team is performing up to the correct standards, and that players are progressing to their top potential. He will also lead the newly formed full season U18 team through a 50+ game schedule, including 5-7 major showcase events, and 4 practices per week.
