Game 1: West Side Arena vs Flames Minor
The game started off strong by both teams, going back and forth early, and resulting in a 0-0 tie at the end of the first period. Just 1:28 into the second period, the Flames would strike first. However, four minutes later the Express would respond when Joey Gatto assisted Tyler McNeil for the teams first goal. From that point forward it would be all Express. The Flames fought hard, but Walpole got goals from Mikey Pedersen, Jeremy cross, and Tommy Higgins and 2 assists from Michael Grace. The Express prevailed in a very chippy game.
Game 2: Verizon Wireless Arena vs Flames Major
The Express would strike first, half way through the first period with a goal from Jeremy Cross, set up by Mikey Pedersen. The Flames tieed the game shortly after, however the Express responded with one of two goals by Jake Berdine, one of them a sweet tip in waist high. An assist each by Defensemn Michael Grace and Ryan Vona. The Express sealed the deal midway through the third when Mikey Pedersen assisted Jeremy Cross on yet another goal. A nice win on the big stage.
Game 3: West Side Arena vs Brookline A
The Express would dominate the game. The Express defense put on a clinic shutting down any hopes of a comeback at any point in the game. A nifty goal in Gretzky's office by Mikey Pedersen capped it all off.
Championship Game: St. Anselm's College vs Flames Minor
The Express entered the game confident and cocky with a 3-0 record. Although they started off sluggish, the Express would get the first goal. Riding high, the momentum changed as the Flames would pick up the next 3 goals of the game. A 3-1 game in the middle of the second as momentum changed again in favor of the Express. The Express would score again making it 3-2. Shortly after, a defensive breakdown lead to a Flames goal making it 4-2. With the Express scrambling for offensive production it finally happens on a beautiful shot, top left, by Chris Mcgrail. Score now 4-3. With a minute left in the game and the goalie pulled, the Express put the pressure on and scored a goal with 0.02 seconds left with a scrum in the crease only to be called back because the whistle blew before the puck crossed the line. Needless to say a very crushing loss, but a very productive and exciting weekend put on by the 02 Express.« See All Youth News
