EHL: Express Sweep Weekend, Gain Momentum Into Playoffs

Walpole, MA  - This past weekend the EHL Walpole Express team exploded for 20 goals, helping them grab six points from three games in three nights.

On Friday the Express faced off against north conference opponent the New England Wolves. Despite the final score of 8-1, Austin Smith (Oakland Park, IL) had a great game in net stopping 31 of 32 shots faced. The Express offense was led by Chris Peters (Rochester, NY) and Charlie Page (Winthrop, MA) who netted two goals a piece. Eric Wright (San Diego, CA), Ryan Edgar (St Louis, MO,) Will Ahearn (Charlestown,MA), and Zach D'Amico (Wrentham, MA) all chipped in for the Express for the first win of the weekend.

On Saturday, the Express woke up bright and early to head to Brewster, NY for an 11:30am puck drop against the New York Applecore. Despite the score of 5-4, the Express transition game proved to be too much for the core'.  Austin Smith would earn another win in net, stopping 26 of 30 shots faced on the night. The teams offense was led by Will Lebel (St-Bruno QC) with two goals, Ryan Campbell (Scituate, MA), Chris Peters and Zach D'amico all with a goal each.

On Sunday, the Express travelled to Dix Hills, NY for their final game of the weekend against the New York Bobcats. Max Flynn would earn his 16th win of the season in net stopping 18 of 20 shots faced, while the Express were able to score seven goals and pile 60 shots on net in this 60 minute battle. The Express offense was once again led by power forward Will Lebel and Kevin Mainello (Albany, NY) as they each had two a piece. Other goals game from Eric Wright, Charlie Page, and Chris Peters.

"It was a long weekend but a great weekend for the team," said Coach Jon Lounsbury.  "I'm extremely proud of the effort they put into each game. It doesn't matter who your opponent is, playing three games in 72 hours is hard no matter what. We have a lot of work left to do as we prepare for the playoffs and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish."

The Express are home next weekend against the Vermont Lumberjacks.
