EWHC: Express Start the New Year with 3-1 Win

Walpole, MA  - The Express traveled to the Edge Sports Center on January 7th to face the Wizards for the third time this season.

The Express got on the board about half-way through the first period when Cassi Ronan skated the puck end to end. As Ronan came over the blue line, she used the Wizards defenseman as a screen by firing it through her legs past Wizards goaltender Jasmine Mucci.

The Express controlled a majority of the game, however struggled to find the back of the net; although the team remained on top 1-0 after two periods.

Elizabeth Furfari finally added another goal, the game winner, at the 12:59 mark of the third period when she buried a back door pass from line-mate Megan Gates. Kellie Popkin gave the Express the insurance goal when she went on a 2 on 1 rush with Cassidy McNeeley at the 4:22 mark. McNeeley made a beautiful pass over to Popkin who fired the puck top shelf. The Wizards managed to sneak one past Express Goaltender Lily OíNeil to make it a 3-1 final.

The win brings the Express to 3-0 against the Wizards this season.
