EHL: Streaking Express Are Full Steam Ahead

Walpole, MA  - In Walpole, MA the EHL team came back from Thanksgiving break on a mission as they won 4 straight games in 5 nights.

On Wednesday, the Express were at Rodman Arena for a 12:00pm puck drop against the division leading Boston Jr Rangers. The Express jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Will Ahearn (Charlestown, MA) exploded through the neutral zone beating two defenders for a breakaway goal. The game would continue to go back and forth until the third period when Ryan Edgar (St Louis, MO) broke free from the corner to give the team a 2-0 lead. Minutes later, Trevor Pray (Tonowanda, NY) would score a rebound goal for the 3-0 lead. The Rangers would eventually score late in the third to bring the game within 2 goals until Chris Peters (Rochester, NY) would score an empty net goal to solidify the win. Max Flynn would get the win in net stopping 36 of 37 shots.

Friday saw the Express travel to Hooksett, NH to face off against the North Division leading NH Avalanche. The Avalanche would come out controlling the game, taking a quick 2-0 lead through the first period and a half. The Avalanche would get into some penalty trouble in the second, allowing the Express to take advantage. Will Lebel (St-Bruno-de-montarville, QC) would get the Express on the board with a one time goal off the power play. Just 30 seconds later Chris Peters would strip the Avalanche defender of the puck and feed Bryan Colburn (Cumberland, RI) for a breakaway goal to even the game at 2. The team would never look back as they would capitalize on 2 more powerplay opportunities to take a 4-2 victory. Will Lebel would score his second of the game and Cam Sullivan (Weymouth, MA) put the icing on the cake at the end of the second period. Austin Smith (Oakland Park) IL would stop 49 of 51 shots faced for the win.

On Saturday, the Express would return back to the station in Walpole, MA to defeat the New England Wolves 6-4 in a penalty filled affair. Max Flynn (Wenatchee, WA) would stop 36 of 40 shots faced for his 9th win of the season. The team would come out red hot as they scored 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. Tyler Pietryzk (Taunton, MA) would highlight the scoring for the Express as he was able to have his first 2 goal game of the season. The Express would see 4 other goal scorers this game as they were able to solidify another win on the weekend. Ryan Campbell (Scituate, MA), Will Lebel (St-Bruno-De-Montaville, QC), Trevor Pray (Tonowanda, NY) and Kevin Mainello (Albany, NY) would all get on the score board for the Express in the victory.

Sunday, the Express would take their streak to Haverhill, MA for their 4th game in 5 nights. Once again the Express would strike early in the period as red hot Will Lebel (St-Bruno-De-Montaville, QC) would score on the power play to take the 1-0 lead. The Express would stay confident and not look back as they headed into the locker room with a 2-0 lead. Larry Niland (Lido Beach, NY) would bury a behind the back pass from Chris Peters. Ryan Edgar (St Louis, MO) would open the second period with a top corner snipe from the top of the circles to take a commanding 3-0 lead. The Warriors would find the board late in the second to cut the lead down to 2 goals. Austin Smith (Oakland park, IL) would be the story in the third as he swatted away the warriors attack finishing the game with 35 saves on 37 shots faced. Chris Peters (Rochester, NY) and Trevor Pray (Tonowanda, NY) would add goals in the third period as the Express were able to come out with a 5-2 victory.

Coach Lounsbury was exceptionally pleased with the week and looks forward to getting back at it after a much deserved day off. "Its been incredible how the team has come back recalibrated after Thanksgiving break. We had some good wins against some great teams and it's built confidence within the group," said Coach Lounsbury

The Express are back at home Friday for another game against the NH Avalanche. Puck drop will be at 12:00 pm at Rodman Arena.
