EHLP: Premier Take Down Wolves

Walpole, MA  - The Express Premier team entered their Friday matchup with the New England Wolves with the season series tied at one a piece.  In their first game earlier in the season, the Express were down 4-0 and rallied in the third to win 5-4. The second matchup would not see such a comeback as the Express would fall 8-2.

“Game three was big for us, it was a statement game for the team,’” Coach Polino said.  “We wanted to prove to ourselves that we weren’t going to be a team that would be walked on, that we would be a team to worry about when we show up on your schedule.”

And that is exactly what they did, putting up 8 unanswered goals to run away with the game.

Ryan Healey (Westwood, MA) would start the scoring off with a goal early in the first.  Brenden Sinclair (Frisco, TX) would follow with another goal in the first 10 minutes of the opening frame.  The first period would come to a close with a goal from Ryan Miller (Buffalo, NY).  In the opening minutes of the second, Healey would score again.  Nick Terry (Taunton, MA) would score on the powerplay shortly after giving the Express a 5-0 lead before the halfway point of the game.

“Even though we were up 5-0, we wanted to show that we weren’t done yet,” Polino said.  “Games don’t end just because you are up.  We needed to keep our foot on the gas and press on.”

The Express would do just that in the third period.  Tyler Pietrzyk (Taunton, MA) would increase the lead to 6 in the opening minute of the third.  Patrick Twombly (Hull, MA) would score on the powerplay.  Jacob Crespo would be the last to score, short handed, giving the Express an 8-0 win.  Christian Pellegrino (Arnold, MA) would stop all 28 shots for his second shutout of the season.

The Express improve to 7-6-0 on the season with the win.  They travel to Laconia Wednesday to take on the Wolves in the 4th game of the 7 game season series.
