EHL: Express Sweep Opening Weekened

Walpole, MA  - The Walpole Express EHL team started the season off right with a weekend sweep in Connecticut. Game one saw the Express face-off against the CT Oilers where they pulled out a 4-2 win to open the season. The team came ready to play as they took an early 3-0 lead to start the game. They would not look back.  “I was happy with the way we played, it was the first game of the season so we battled through some mistakes,” said Lounsbury.  Strong goaltending and puck possession were the keys to victory on this night.

On Sunday the Express travelled to Norwalk, CT to face-off against a very talented CT Roughriders club.   A well scouted, fast paced game, the Express were able to control the offensive play and come out with another 4-2 win on the road.  Rookie Malachi Albrecht stood tall in net stopping 32 of 34 shots faced. Bryan Colburn continued to stay hot with a 2 goal performance. “I was happy with the weekend. Winning on the road is never easy, especially when its opening weekend,” said Lounsbury.  “I’m excited to see our team grow as the weeks go on, we have a really good group.”

The Express EHL team will take on the Total Athletic Seahawks this Saturday afternoon in their home opener at Rodman Arena.
