NEWJHL: Express Junior Women Top Hartford Wolfpack

Walpole, MA  - This past Friday, the Express continued their winning ways against the Hartford Wolfpack, winning by a score of 6-1.

Shanley Austin started the scoring for the Express at 12:12 on the power play, with an assist from Cassi Ronan. Then at 5:45 Melissa Macri found the back of the net with help from Shanley Austin and Hayley Parrish. The Express ended the period up 3-0 with a goal by Hayley Parrish from Sami Barletta and Shanley Austin.

As expected, the Wolfpack came out strong in the second, holding the Express scoreless for the period.

The third period saw momentum swing back to the Express. At 14:28 of the period, Hayley Parrish scored her second of the game. A few minutes later at 11:36, the Express would capitalize on a 5 on 3 when defenseman Cassi Ronan put the puck in, running the score up to 5-0. However, at 9:31, the Wolfpack would get on the board. Pushing back, at 3:48, Hannah Murphy responded by ending the scoring for the Express, making the score 6-1. Cassi Ronan picked up her third point of the game. Lily O’Neil faced 13 shots.

The Express are heading to UMASS Amherst this Friday night to play against the club team, followed by a Sunday League match up with the Northern Cyclones.
