Walpole, MA - The Walpole Express EHL team had some ups and downs over the past weekend but were able to come home with 2 points to remain division leaders.
On Saturday, the Express traveled to Middletown, NJ to face a young, hardworking New Jersey Titans squad. The Express came out flat and found themselves in the hole 2-0 early in the game. Then Eric Lipa put the Express within one early in the second and the team never looked back. The Express scored five straight to finish off the Titans and cruise to a 5-3 win. Lipa led the way with 2 goals and 1 assist. Nick Balboa and Alex Corvi both finished the game with 3 points. Evan McCarthy had the win between the pipes.
On Sunday, the Express traveled to Aston, PA to take on South Division-leader Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Express couldn't gain any traction and were outworked as the Flyers cruised to an easy victory.
"Despite the initial win, it was a disappointing weekend for us,” said Coach Jon Lounsbury. “I thought we just went through the motions as a team. I always tell the guys, I don't care about losing, I care about how we lose. We need to find a way to compete in each game in order to be successful. "
The Express head to Hookset, NH next weekend for the November Showcase where they faceoff against the NY Applecore and NJ Titans.
