Walpole, MA - Walpole Express Captain Nic Cota has committed to The University of Southern Maine for the fall of 2014. Cota is a 6’3” 205 lb. defenseman from Bangor, ME. The 1993 born defensive defenseman is known as a gritty stay at home D-man, who will bring a ton of grit to the Huskies back end.
USM is an NCAA Division III school currently playing out of the ECAC East. Cota is the third Express payer that will be heading to USM in the fall.
“I'm really looking forward to being a part of a great program. I’m also grateful to be able to continue playing hockey for the next four years of my life. I want to thank the Express organization and Coach Lounsbury for getting me where I need to be to play college hockey. I also, can’t thank my family enough for believing in me and aiding me in my pursuit of a lifelong dream,” added Cota.
"Cota was the heartbeat of the Express this season. Everyday he came with the desire to get better and a fire to compete. Nic plays with a lot of toughness and he was an absolute pleasure to coach this season,” said Jon Lounsbury. We wish Nic and his family best of luck at USM.
