Express Prepares
for Winter Break
Make up date to be
determined soon |

(Walpole, MA) -- Both Walpole Express
teams were in action this past weekend, playing the last games before
a much-anticipated two-week holiday break. The Express A team’s
Friday night AJHL game against the Boston Bulldogs was cancelled
due to the severe ice storm that ravaged portions of the state and
prevented the Bulldogs from traveling to Walpole. A make-up date
will be set after the first of the year. The Express did manage
to get in two scheduled non-league games against National Sports
Academy at Iorio Arena, splitting the weekend with an 8-2 win on
Saturday and a 3-1 loss on Sunday.
The B team took a pair of wins on the road against the Portland
Jr. Pirates, winning 7-4 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday. The team
is now 27-2-0 in MJHL play and sits atop the Francis/Jennings division
with 54 points.
"Pleased would be a good word for how Mark (Kumpel), Rob (Barletta)
and I are feeling as we head into break,” said B Team Head
Coach Tony Dalessio. “Both teams have preformed pretty well
and have steadily improved throughout the first half of the season.
We know we still have a lot of work to do when the boys return after
the holidays but the break will allow everyone, coaches included,
to recharge their batteries.”
In the New Year, the Express will be tested right off the bat as
both teams suit up Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, 2009 to face the Northern
Cyclones at Cyclones Arena in Hudson, NH. |
