B's Open Season with a Pair of Victories A team splits

(Walpole, MA) -- The Walpole Express Jr. B team tallied two
wins to open the regular season besting the NY Saints at home.
"These were very lopsided victories," said Express
Jr. B Head Coach Mike Tenney. "It was great for us to begin
the season on a positive note but we know the competition will
intensify as the season progresses."
In Saturday's 10-0 victory, Jack Mulvaney and Thomas Anzalone
each scored three goals while Donovan Minutolo delivered two.
Carmen Mastrangelo added a goal and three assists; Aaron Gonzales
notched a goal and an assist; and Loui Nalasco provided assists.
Jake Domos, Kevin Zipkin and Thomas Nitsche each delivered
an assist, as well. Matt Hammatt made all 10 saves for the
shutout.
On Sunday, the story was much the same as the Express beat
the New York Saints 14-2. Contributers included Dan Bufis
(three goals, two assists), Mastrangelo (three goals), Will
Harrop (two goals, two assists), Minutolo (two goals), Chris
Galanis (one goal, one assist), and Anzalone (one goal, two
assists). Other top performers included Nitsche (one goal,
two assists), Derek Scott (one goal), and John Sheehan (two
assists). Shamus Foster, Kevin Hanlon and Mulvaney also each
posted an assist. TJ Thornton made 11 of 13 saves for the
win in net.
The B team plays next weekend at the first MJHL league showcase
of the season in West
Chester, Penn., facing off against:
Friday 18th vs. Valley Forge Minutemen
Sat 19th vs. Hampton Roads Whalers
Sun 20th vs. Philadelphia Little Flyers
Also this past weekend, the A team went 1-1 at the Hub City
Jr. A Fall Classic losing
to the Bridgewater Bandits 3-2, and beating the Springfield
Jr. Pics (formerly
the NE Falcons) 5-0.
The A team will face the NJ Hitmen in a showcase next weekend
in Wayne, N.J. and then
play on Sat., Sept. 19 vs. Syracuse Stars and on Sunday, Sept.
20 vs. Boston Jr. Bruins.
