| (Walpole, MA) -- Seven MJHL All-Stars
will join the Walpole Express for the upcoming 2010-11 season,
the team announced today. “We are extremely excited
about the new group of elite players that will soon join us
from the always-strong Met league," said Express GM/Coach
Tony Dalessio. "We know we are getting excellent players
and citizens from the Central Penn and N.J. Jr. Titans programs.
Central Penn Coach Andy Scott and Titans Coach Dustin DePalma)
have done a great job for a long time and their success shows
every season in both league standings and their player placement."
From the Central Penn Panthers, the Express welcomes forwards
Collin O’Neil and Jay Heinle, along with Heinle's twin
brother goaltender Phil Heinle. O’Neil, a ’92
birth year, will be looked upon to add instant offense after
posting 59 points (34 goals) in the MJHL and being named league
MVP. Jay and Phil Heinle, ’93 birth years, will join
older brother Wes, a veteran forward with the Express, making
the 2010-2011 season a true family affair. Jay, who was recently
named the MJHL defensive forward of the year, scored 34 points
last season while battling the top players on Penn's competing
teams. Phil, who posted a .912 save percentage, earned 20
wins on the season and carried the team to another Jr. B National
berth.
From the New Jersey Jr. Titans, the Express welcomes Ken
Yasenchock and Anthony Valentino, players who displayed electrifying
and high-powered offense last season. Yasenchock, who will
play his final year of junior hockey with the Express, is
expected to make an immediate impact on the front lines. He
finished last season with 44 points. Valentino, a ’91
birth year, impressed scouts with a very strong first season
of junior hockey, posting 38 points while splitting his time
between forward and defense. His primary focus in Walpole
will be at forward. Both Valentino and Yasenchock were major
contributors in the Titans' run to the Jr. B Nationals semifinals
this past March.
David Goff, a '92 birth year, right-shot forward with the
Palm Beach Hawks, joins this talented group of Express recruits
after scoring 22 goals and 39 points for Coach John Ambrefe
in the Met South.
Finally, the Express welcomes a home-grown All-Star as Express
defenseman Thomas Nitsche, a ’92 birth year, transitions
from the B team. Nitsche posted 20 points for Coach Mike Tenney
during the 2009-2010 season and will be looked upon to add
depth to a strong back line.
The 2010-11 Express is now available on the team's website
(www.walpoleexpress.com). Training camp begins on August 22
at Iorio Arena in Walpole.
