| (Walpole, MA) --
The Walpole Express Jr. B team won both of its games this
past weekend and stretched the team's winning streak to 12
-- all on the road. "We haven't played at home since
November 8, so having an on-the-road winning streak like this
is tremendous for the team," said Head Coach Mike Tenney.
Weekend Wrap-Up
On Saturday, the B's beat fourth-place team the New Jersey
Rockets 4-1. "They played really well against us on Saturday,"
Tenney said. "Fortunately, our goalie Brendan Hammatt
was sensational making 2 or 3 saves he had no business making
to keep them to one goal. Then we got our scoring going."
Carmen Mastrangelo had two goals, and Dan Bufis and Matt Wilkins
each added a goal. Bufis also had an assist, as did Tom Nitsche,
John Sheehan, Liam Coughlin, Galanis, and Ryan Andrews.
On Sunday, the Express beat the Rockets again, this time
7-2. The game was closer than the score would indicate but
once again the Express got world-class goaltending from Hammatt
who made big save after big save. "We were really good
in the offensive zone on the forecheck," Tenney said.
"We caused a lot of turnovers and that led to great scoring
chances, which we buried." Bufis led the way with two
goals and an assist. Matt Duncan and Coughlin both got their
first goals of the season. Andrews, Nitsche, and Sheehan each
added goals. The Express' newest recruit, A.J. Chua, tallied
his first point for the team with an assist. Kevin Zipkin,
Shamus Foster, Mastrangelo, Sergie Soloviev, Duncan, and Aaron
Gonzales all had assists in the game.
